Giant mystery sea creature washes up on Indonesian beach

The carcass of a giant squid was discovered on the shores of Seram island in Maluko province of Indonesia, on Tuesday, local news daily Beritasatu reported.

A Facebook post from Mbs Sangadji included multiple photos and said locals are trying to get government officials or a research institution to help get rid of the remains.

Baffled locals have speculated that the creature may be a giant squid or the remains of a whale.

While social media thinks it's a giant squid or a humpback whale, it is unclear as to what kind of animal it may be. But as he approached, he could see more clearly: whatever this was, it had once been alive.

Disturbingly, this isn't the only time a weird creature has rocked up on heavenly beaches, as earlier this year a "hairy" creature washed up in the Philippines baffling locals.

Videos of the very big creature have found their way to YouTube.

A group of marine scientists have reportedly taken samples of the creature in a bid to identify it. "It's unusual. Dolphins do not have any fur".

Locals have flocked to glimpse the 15-metre monstrosity, which is so big it was initially mistaken for a stricken fishing boat.

It was later identified as a whale - but had developed a odd appearance due to decomposition.
