IPL 2017: Lots of bowling talent in India, says Warner

IPL 2017: Lots of bowling talent in India, says Warner

Gujarat though, ended with 8 points from 14 games with just 4 wins this season. Gujarat seemed to have been affected much by the injury of Andrew Tye, who is the no doubt best bowler of the IPL Season 10.

Going into the match, Sunrisers are the favorites as the team is right now having most successful matches on its kitty of the tournament with Warner and Bhuvneswar Kumar are some key players of the team.

Praveen Kumar claimed the early wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques as the Sunrisers made a ponderous start to the chase.

Ravindra Jadeja (20 not out) tried his best to provide the late flourish but Hyderabad bowlers were clinical in the end overs to bowl out Gujarat for 154 in 19.2 overs.

Warner and Vijay Shankar put on a century partnership between them in their pursuit of Gujarat's target. It took a calm and composed approach by David Warner in alliance with Vijay Shankar that guided Sunrisers Hyderabad into the playoffs of IPL 10. The only time that Gujarat sniffed another chance was when Warner (29) nicked Ankit Soni to Dinesh Karthik, but the umpire did not hear anything.

A sore finger kept Yuvraj Singh out of the match, but the void left by the Indian superstar was filled superbly by Shankar who notched up his first IPL fifty. He showed great composure and did not shows signs of any pressure.

His opposite number Warner will be looking to guide the Sunrisers to a second consecutive IPL Final, he said: "Would have been (had they been eliminated)".

Hyderabad won the toss and chose to field first. Both openers, Dwayne Smith and Ishan Kishan hit their respective half-centuries. Among the four hopefuls are Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), whose match with already-out Gujarat Lions (GL) could be a hard one to deal with, since the rivals are playing without any pressure.

Their bowling unit too have delivered with Bhuvneshwar claiming 23 wickets so far, while Siddarth Kaul and Rashid Khan have claimed 15 and 14 wickets respectively.

Smith hit 7 fours and 2 sixes before getting LBW by Rashid Khan while Kishan hit 5 fours and 4 sixes. In fact, quite a few of his mishits also crossed the boundary ropes as he hit five fours and four sixes. It nearly looked like Kishan and Smith would run away with the game before Rashid dismissed Smith with a flipper that was hitting the wickets clean.

The loss of Ishan, who top-edged Mohammed Siraj (4-32) to wicket-keeper Naman Ojha, two overs later sparked a landmark calamity for the home team. And that started the collapse wherein the Gujarat batsmen lost wickets in a hurry.
