Woman accused of stalking congressman because of health care vote

"Wright exited her vehicle and began screaming and striking the windows" of Kustoff's auto, at one point reaching inside.

Winters told BuzzFeed News that Wright was not part of the meeting and that he did not know her.

A Tennessee woman is facing a felony charge after she allegedly chased Rep.

According to a release from the police department, those in Kustoff's auto felt threatened by the vehicle behind them and told investigators they believed Wright was trying to force them off the road.

Wendi Wright, who is from Kustoff's western Tennessee district, is accused of chasing her congressman and an aide on a highway after they left an event at the University of Tennessee Martin, according to WBBJ, a local ABC affiliate.

Wright then blocked the vehicle until a 911 call was made, police said.

"What she was saying was more cursing at the congressman and his aides", Sgt. Marty Plunk said.

The sheriff's department released Wright's mugshot and an account of the incident on Facebook. "But, I think the basis of all of it was a health care vote that he had cast that she was upset with".

The Weakley County Sherriff's Department first reported the incident on Thursday.

A 911 call was made but deputies said Wright left the area before they arrived. She was released after posting a $1000 bond.

She will be arraigned on May 15.

Kustoff said he voted for the bill because the "current health care system is failing Tennesseans".

We've reached out to his office for comment.

The May 4 House vote paves the way for states to individually determine whether people with pre-existing conditions can enroll in state-operated health care exchanges created under Obamacare.
