Apple Now Allows Users to Tip with In-App Purchases

The leading business also released updates to its App store policies which officially designates voluntary tipping through virtual payments.

We've all been there; you download an app, use it regularly, and find yourself frequently prompted to write an App Store review.

Other changes include requiring developers to use Apple's own API to ask users to provide ratings without leaving an app, and screenshots can now include text overlays.

In response to the new policy, Chinese companies behind popular apps such as Jinri Toutiao, Zhihu and Yingke have all changed the way customers tip through the latest versions of their Apps.

Earlier in order to rate some app users were forced to leave the app and visit App store for rating the app which was time-consuming and inconvenient.

The app, which was shoddily slapped together with poor English syntax and questionable security-compromising prompts, tells the user that their internet is "not safe" to use.

Each app will only be allowed to prompt you three times a year in this way as well.

Careless? Foolhardy? Unaware? You might be taken aback by such a line of procedure, - if you even get to such a point in the first place - but it only takes just 200 active subscriptions to amass $56,000 every month for the developer and $24,000 for Apple. This meant that publishers could effectively force users into granting "always" permissions by not providing the option of "when in use", rendering apps that rely on location (Uber, Lyft) effectively useless without the "always" permission level.
