Green laughs off Magic' comments

The Golden State Warriors are now riding a 14-game winning streak in the National Basketball Association playoffs, but Magic Johnson still thinks his Los Angeles "Showtime" Lakers would be too much for the current Western Conference champs to handle.

Well, word of Johnson's bold claim made its way to Warriors forward Draymond Green, who offered a ideal response.

Still, Green wouldn't declare his squad better than L.A.'s because he doesn't engage in historical comparisons.

In claiming, "we would probably sweep 'em", Johnson said the Warriors "are too small" and have no one who could matchup with Kareem-Abdul-Jabbar.

"First off, the game is completely different than it was back then", Green said. "Nowadays, if you can't shoot a 3, you are a liability on the floor". That wasn't the case back then. Vegas oddsmakers say they would favor the 2017 Warriors over the 1996 Bulls, though, previously the team most widely considered to be the "best ever". "Let's do this, forget about the cap ramifications and start talking about player personnel ... and before you know it, I get a treasure of players". It should be noted Mychal is Klay Thompson's dad, so he has some bias here. An NBA title. So I don't think. "He just had more pressure on him to have to score all the time". But these days, fast-paced play is the norm, while the emphasis on the three-point line has truly revolutionized the game.

Draymond Green was asked about Magic's comments, and he responded very appropriately.

Oscar Robertson, for instance, said Steph Curry is successful because he's not being defended with the same intensity as himself in the 50s and 60s.

That's the beauty of comparing teams from across decades - there are no right and wrong answers, only opinions born out of clouds of memory mixed with contemporary prejudice. "The championship is history and that's really the only history we need to make". "You want to see them do well", Green said.

"We would say, 'We would have ran them off that gym, ' " Green said. His career was cut short, of course, so we'll never know what could have been further down the road in his playing days.

"I sound stupid, right?" I think at the end of the day, everyone talks to officials.

"We don't bring up past year in terms of strategy, in terms of sort of what we need to do better or here or there", Kerr said.

"We made the mistake of circling 73 (wins) and worrying about the wrong thing before".
