Spicer won't say whether Trump has confidence in Sessions

As part of the White House's efforts to recalibrate, Sanders is taking on a more visible role at daily briefings instead of press secretary Sean Spicer, who has gained national celebrity for his often combative interactions with reporters.

With more and more attention being placed on Trump's tweets as he's ramped up his online activity of late with some volatile (and contradictory) statements, the White House has been forced to address the issue.

U.S. President Donald Trump is defending his frequent 140-character messages on Twitter, saying it's his way of reaching the public without his words being filtered through traditional news outlets. Despite bipartisan complaints about his continued 140-character habit, Trump has persisted in making his views known on social media.

"The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C", he wrote.

What's remarkable is that Trump's logic regarding his Twitter feed isn't even the most tortured defense of his social media practices out there this morning. "But at the same time I do think that the media obsesses over every period, dot".

Any attempt to differentiate between Trump's Twitter feed and the official voice of the White House is a distinction without a difference.

Kellyanne Conway is baffled that people are 'obsessed' with the American president's tweets

On Monday, Trump took to Twitter to criticize the Justice Department's handling of the travel ban orders, both of which have been shot down by USA federal courts.

"I have not had a discussion with him about that", Spicer replied when asked about how much confidence Trump has in Sessions.

Trump also has a presidential @POTUS Twitter account.

Spicer was far less committal when asked if tweets regarding the so-called travel ban would hurt the White House in the Supreme Court when the ACLU takes on the "travel ban" case. Both Corey Lewandowki, Trump's former campaign manager, and David Bossie, another former Trump campaign hand, had been under consideration, but it appears increasingly unlikely either plan to formally join the administration.

"And the same people critiquing his use of it now critiqued it during the election and it turned out pretty well for him", Spicer said.
