Trump sons defend his criticism of London mayor

Khan, the first Muslim mayor of a major western capital, said the militants who targeted civilians in bars and restaurants were despicable and the city would be resilient in the face of the attack.

"Having said that", she added, "I think Donald Trump is wrong in what he said about Sadiq Khan, in relation to the attack on London Bridge".

Khan also stopped by Good Morning Britain, where the always-contrary Piers Morgan first (at the beginning of the below clip) tried to argue that Trump might have a point about how to stop terror, but Khan didn't buy into the argument because of what he calls Trump's "ignorant" history of Islamophobic remarks and policies.

A spokesman said the mayor is focused on "working with the police, the emergency services and the government to keep London safe".

The Tweeter-in-Chief is at it again, taking heat this time for keeping up his criticism of London Mayor Sadiq Khan's statement that there was "no cause for alarm" when police swarmed the city after terrorists struck Saturday night.

At the time, Mr Trump said he was "happy" London had elected Mr Khan and suggested the Labour politician was likely to be part of the exception to his plans for a barring Muslims.

An ABC News reporter asked Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Sanders at the briefing Monday why Trump was trying to pick a fight with Kahn. I want to send a clear message to the sick and evil extremists who committed these disgusting crimes.

"State visits are given to world leaders who have had a distinguished service, who have a track record, and in the circumstances, where Donald Trump as president had a Muslim ban, had changed the policies of the U.S., the long-standing policies around refugees, in the circumstances when many British people disagree with many of Donald Trump's policies, we shouldn't be having a state visit". He has also been backed by the US Embassy in London. After his election a year ago, Khan tweeted criticism of then-candidate Trump's rhetoric, saying his "ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe".

Khan has been against Trump's visit to the United Kingdom from the very start and he continues to maintain that view.

Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway on Monday condemned what she called the media's "obsession with covering everything he says on Twitter and very little of what he does as president".

"If you're going to see something and say something, it has to be followed by, do something", she said.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed to take the case to the Supreme Court because it "blocks the president's efforts to strengthen this country's national security".

Trump said he had spoken with May to express America's "unwavering support" and offer US assistance as the British government works to protect its citizens and bring the guilty to justice. Police shot dead all three attackers.
