Will Trump sack Mueller? His Florida friend says he's considering that

"Chris speaks for himself", a senior administration official told the Daily Caller in an email.

A spokesman for Mueller's team declined to comment on Wednesday.

His comments came just days after explosive comments by ousted FBI director James Comey to the same committee, suggesting that Trump sought to interfere with the investigation.

Mueller, a former FBI director, was appointed as a special counsel in May after the firing of his bureau successor James Comey, and continued questions about the impartiality of the investigation into potential collusion between Russian meddling efforts and the Trump campaign. "I think he's weighing that option", Mr Ruddy said on PBS NewsHour.

The White House has categorically denied rumors that Robert Mueller's head is on the chopping block.

"There are some real conflicts". Mr. Mueller had started selecting his team members, majorly comprised of criminal law experts.

Last month, Gingrich had tweeted: "Robert Mueller is superb choice to be special counsel". Now that Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation, then the authority to sack Mueller rests with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. "I mean, these are people who are going to be after [President Donald] Trump", Gingrich told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" today, adding that he believes the investigation should be curtailed given the biases associated with the case.

Ruddy's assertion comes as conservative allies of Trump - who initially praised Mueller's selection as special counsel - have begun attacking his credibility.

"What they have said is, and what I've heard from everybody is, the president didn't speak to him on this matter and he doesn't speak for the president". "Republicans are delusional if they think the special counsel is going to be fair. Look who is hiring".

Former House Speaker andTrump ally Newt Gingrich called on Monday for the special counsel position to be "abolished".

"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", Ruddy said. Some of the words in her tweet were capitalized.

Reports that Trump was considering firing Mueller surfaced last week, again citing unnamed sources.

Three members of the legal team known to have been hired so far by Mueller have given political donations nearly exclusively to Democrats, according to a CNN analysis of Federal Election Commission records.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, warned on Twitter that "If President fired Bob Mueller, Congress would immediately re-establish independent counsel and appoint Bob Mueller".
