Liverpool target Naby Keita '100% sure' to stay at Leipzig - Hasenhuttl

Liverpool have since ended their pursuit for the 22-year-old this summer, but that hasn't stopped Klopp from seeing the lighter side of the failed attempt.

Keita has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool over the recent weeks, with manager Jurgen Klopp said to be a fan of the Guinea worldwide.

Liverpool will not go to £75million for Naby Keita, after RB Leipzig made it known they would not even accept that for their star midfielder.

Leipzig boss Hasenhuttl has all but confirmed that the Reds' interest is over, claiming Keita will certainly remain in Germany ahead of the new season, and has stressed the midfielder's importance as the club prepares for their debut Champions League campaign.

Speaking following Liverpool's recent pre-season victory over Hertha Berlin Klopp joked with Sky Deutschland: 'Our next offer for Keita is €300m!'

Now Keita faces another season in the Bundesliga with head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl underlining that he was going nowhere, commenting after the game that "The chance [of Keïta leaving] is null", reports the Observer. It's 100 percent clear that Naby will play this year at Leipzig.

Keita has a release clause that activates next summer that will allow him to move for significantly less than Liverpool have already bid, though the Reds will face far sterner competition to sign him. At the beginning of the transfer period we said we would start with the same team with all the main players we had left a year ago, that no one will go.

The only way a transfer could still happen prior to the end of August would be if Leipzig performed a U-turn and decided they do not wish to keep an unhappy player. I think we said it early that we want to build on the squad from a year ago, and that's what we've tried to do. He knows this season will be fantastic for us.
