Trump brushes off record low approval rating: 'Not bad at this time'

He tweeted that winning 40 percent approval wasn't bad "at this time" and claimed that ABC and The Washington Post's polling was the most inaccurate leading up to the election.

Trump's tweets are also a concern, according to the survey, with 67 percent of Americans saying they disapprove of his use of Twitter.

Half of respondents, 50 percent, said they preferred the current law, more than double the 24 percent who said they backed the GOP proposal.

The only other president to approach such low numbers at the six-month mark of his presidency was Gerald Ford, who had just a 39 percent approval rating in February 1975.

Besides, it also showed that 48 percent of the respondents see the U.S. leadership in the world as weaker since Trump's inauguration, with only 27 percent believing it to be stronger.

The Russia scandal looms large: 63 percent said it was "inappropriate for Trump's son, son-in-law and campaign manager to have met with a Russian lawyer during the campaign", and six in ten think Russia "tried to influence the campaign".

Thirty-five percent of respondents to the poll said health care is "the most important issue facing the country right now", more than any other topic surveyed.

President Donald Trump waves as he arrives at the Elysee Palace in.

Forty-three percent approve of the president's handling of the economy, while 41 percent disapprove. In total, 30 percent of Trump approvers mentioned his overall leadership or personality traits when asked what they approve of most.

Yep, that is a 36 percent approval rating, and a 58 percent disapproval rating. Almost four in 10 Republicans, 38 percent, say his conduct has been unpresidential rather than "fitting and proper" for a president.

The poll also reveals Americans are not really believing that they'd be better off by the Republican plan to replace Obamacare. Even among Democrats, over one-quarter say their party primarily stands in opposition to Trump rather than for their own agenda.

Another said: "And he's not even at 40 percent in the poll!"

The poll was conducted between from July 10 to July 13 among a random sample of over 1,000 adults being surveyed over the phone, with a margin error of 3.5 points.
